DWC is the airport of the future

DWC opened its doors on October 27, 2013, while cargo operations were launched much earlier on June 27, 2010. The passenger terminal was expanded a few years later to increase the airport's annual passenger capacity from 7 million passengers to 26 million. DWC currently supports a number of seasonal charter and scheduled operations in addition to cargo and general aviation, offering quick turn around for carriers and swift airport journeys for guests.

Expansion

Phase Two of expansion for DWC was announced by the Dubai Government in April 2024. The project envisions an airport that will eventually become the world's largest hub in terms of capacity. DWC will have five runways and capacity for 150 million passengers annually within the next decade, the capacity ultimately increasing to 260 million passengers per annum and and 12 million tonnes of cargo.
